When the first accused was arrested near the University circle, my joy knew no bounds. This was my first taste of action in this job involving the police. I felt we had broken a racket as big as the MPSC scam.<br /><br />However, the joy was short-lived as we had to wait for nearly two hours for the next trap to be sprung at Hotel Sagar, Baner.<br /><br />I suddenly started remembering all the stories which police officials often tell as to how traps had failed and how after long hours of waiting nothing capitalised. But experienced hands of police inspectors Rajendra Joshi and Datta Temghare ensured that the trap was not blown up.<br /><br />There were frantic calls from our end to trace the persons who were supposed to come, but to no avail.<br /><br />However, there was light knock on the door and two students were taken-in by surprise. This really taught me patience pays and it would have been so easy to blow up the whole operation through impatience and carelessness.<br /><br />This wasn''t the end of our woes and the non-co-operation and the lies told by the accused really showed how being a police officer was a tough job. To be frank for the first time there was some sympathy for the police force.<br /><br />During the last trap the police without any fear entered the flat at Kothrud and arrested two more which included a girl. But others in the flat were spared of an arrest but were interrogated. Although, it was morning by now, my work was not over as I waited over the next five hours for the filing of the FIR and for details coming through the interrogation. </div> </div>
